Abstract

Experimental practices on design and production processes have become more important in parallel with extant rapid changes and developments in vehicles. Especially, wind tunnel experiments on solving aerodynamic problems of vehicles are easy and reliable. Wind tunnels are very important in research of vehicle aerodynamics. When experimental applications vary within time, wind tunnels have been designed in various sizes and types according to different demands. In the present investigation, an opencircuit wind tunnel which is suction and subsonic type has been designed and simulated. The elements which constitute wind tunnel have been put forward separately towards design and production. Suction type, subsonic, wind tunnel which has an experiment room sized in 0,5 m x 0,5 m has been designed and energy losses of this tunnel have been calculated. The air flow inside the wind tunnel has been modeled using FLUENT computer aided simulation software. The pressure and velocity dispersions of wind tunnel have been investigated and revised according to this result.
