Abstract |
Bus is one of the major modes of mass public transport. Rollover accidents are a major concern for passenger safety in buses. Considering social and economical impact, ECE-R66-01, has become effective from February 2006, specifying requirement of strength of superstructure of buses during rollover. Buses usually are built in a number of variants to meet varying customer needs. Since they are also expensive, the certification cost could be very high if a full bus has to be tested for each of the variants. The certification effort also increases every time a new variants is planned. CAE methodology is now very well developed and is widely deployed for evaluation of impact scenarios like the bus rollover. The methodology has to be proven to generate the necessary confidence to complete the design sign-off and certification. |
