How to Reduce the Flash Formation: Deformation Analysis about a LPDC Mold in a Thermal Steady State

Abstract

The analysis of a lpdc mold featured of flash formation during the filling phase by means of MAGMAstress involves a careful study of the stress module with regards to the selection of the materials used in simulation, the boundary definition and the initial process parameters.
Exporting from MAGMA the distorted STL models of the top and bottom mold parts it’s possible to check the air gap between the dies.
The insert of shims into the mold with the same thickness detected in MAGMASTRESS allows a heavy flash reduction.
