Weld simulation using the ANSYS program - application examples and customer improvements |
Groth Clemens - CADFEM GmbH |
Abstract |
Physical effects in weld simulation include local heat sources and weld seam closure. Metallurgical effects influence the thermal elongation and other physical data of the material. The objectives of the simulation include deformation, residual stresses and metal phase distribution and hardness. The examples cover the application of different heat source models, T-joints, multi-layer welds and circumferential welds. The customer improvements include the simulation of thermal strain functions as given by common dilatogram experiments. |
