Material Modeling Strategies for Crash and Drop Testing Simulation - General Overview |
Lobo Hubert - DataPointLabs |
Abstract |
Crash simulation is affected significantly by the accuracy and choice of material models. The commonly used models are designed for metals and lack the flexibility needed for complex materials such as plastics. As a result, these materials are poorly represented in the simulation leading to lowered simulation accuracy. Good material calibration requires a pragmatic choice of material model based on careful inspection of test data. In the talk to we present a selection philosophy for the use of a variety of material models to describe many types of material behavior found in plastics. This philosophy has been found to be generally applicable for other complex materials including foams and rubber. |
