Abstract |
This paper is focused on explicit numerical codes and on their use in MBDA Italy for the lethality performance assessment of warheads and missiles. The numerical code used is ANSYS with LS DYNA solutor which is particularly adapted to simulations of dynamics implying very high deformations in a very short time scale i.e. detonations dynamics and impacts at very high velocities. If opportunely tuned with experimental data, these tools are very reliable and representative of the phenomena investigated.. Three main missile domains of application have been selected in order to show the potentiality and the representativeness of these codes: the anti-ballistic missiles intercepting ballistic missile targets equipped with a sub munitions warhead payload, the counter Rocket Artillery Mortar weapons, the anti-ship missiles and the penetrators against concrete. |
